Clearing on a rural-residential block around Mount Evelyn covers a fair range, a back paddock taken over by woody weed and regrowth, a long driveway closing in and needing widening, a shed pad to cut into a slope, or fuel to drop back from the house before summer. Every job starts with a walk over the block so we agree what comes out, what stays, and where the permit boundaries sit before any machine starts.

Overlays catch a lot of people out here, and they matter more than the size of the trees. Big parts of the Yarra Ranges carry vegetation protection and significant landscape overlays, and bushfire overlays sit over most acreage. Native vegetation usually needs a planning permit to remove whatever its size. We will not put a saw through anything that needs council sign-off until the paperwork is sorted, and we will point you at the right Yarra Ranges Council form if it is not.

Once the boundaries are clear, the clearing runs in order, drop the scrub and regrowth first to open up access, take the larger trees within the permit line, then run the lot through a big chipper. Mulch nearly always stays on the block, spread to hold the ground, banked along tracks, or left in heaps. Trees worth keeping, the established natives and habitat trees, get marked and worked around rather than flattened.

Why locals choose us

Tree Removal in Mount Evelyn, done properly

Qualified arborists with public liability insurance and a locally based crew. Quotes are written and itemised. Sites are left clean.

01

Fully insured

Ask and the Certificate of Currency is in your hands before a saw starts. Big trees and tracked machinery are exactly the jobs where that paper matters, so check ours the way you would check anyone's.

02

Qualified arborists

Reading a tree is the real skill: is the wood sound, where is the weight sitting, what will the wind do mid-cut. We assess every trunk before deciding how it comes down, and we will tell you straight when a tree is worth keeping instead of cutting.

03

Same-day response

If a tree is moving or a limb is over your only driveway, say so when you ring and you go straight to the top of the list. Everything else still gets a call back before we knock off and a quote visit within a couple of days.

04

Locally based

We spend the working week on blocks between Lilydale, Silvan and Seville, so we already know the overlays, the clay driveways that grease up after rain, and how long a wet track needs before it will carry a loaded truck.

05

Careful standards

No topping, ever. Cuts go back to the branch collar or a sound lateral so the wound can close, we cap how much live canopy comes off in one visit, and habitat hollows stay put where it is safe to leave them.

06

Right equipment

A tracked machine crosses a wet paddock without churning it up, the basket keeps our crew out of brittle dead timber, and the chipper takes whole trunks so nothing is left sitting in a burn pile.

Land Clearing · FAQ
Q.01 Do I need a council permit to clear vegetation around Mount Evelyn?

Often, yes. Much of the Yarra Ranges sits under vegetation protection or significant landscape overlays, and native vegetation usually needs a planning permit to remove whatever its size. Declared weeds and woody regrowth can often go without paperwork. We walk the block, work out what is protected, and steer you to the right Yarra Ranges Council form if a permit is needed.

Q.02 Can you do bushfire fuel reduction across the block?

Yes. Acreage around Mount Evelyn runs real fire risk, so we work to defendable space principles, dropping ladder fuel, low scrub and overhanging canopy in the inner zone around the house while keeping the mature canopy trees. The result is a property a fire truck can actually defend. Some of this is exempt from permits within set distances, but we confirm the allowance first.

Q.03 What happens to the mulch and timber?

Default is chipping on site and leaving the mulch on the block, spread to hold the ground or left in heaps for you to move. Heavier trunk wood is cut into rounds and stacked for firewood, or carted off if you do not want it. On acreage keeping the mulch usually saves a good chunk of the haulage cost.

Q.04 Can you work around trees that have to stay?

Yes, and on a bush block it is normal. Native canopy, habitat trees and anything inside an overlay gets marked and worked around. We barricade trunks during the clearing so the keepers are not knocked by machinery, and if a builder needs them protected to a council standard we set up tree protection zones to spec.
